One way to do it might be to create a short answer test into which students type their student number (1-40 or however many students there are in the class) and the information to be distributed would then be supplied as feedback. Some students might be too lazy to check their number but in my case that would not matter all that much. They would get a grade for the test so they would be rewarded for picking the information up.
But, I would have thought that giving each student an individual piece of information is something that many educators would like to use so I a little surprised that modern all bells and whistles Moodles do not have a built in resource that does this. Perhaps they do.
