Duplicate a hidden course (not visible by students)

Hi,

Building on an earlier thread (https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=344530), I wonder if it is possible to duplicate a course that is set as being not visible to students? 

The reason I am asking is that we implemented a couple of years ago an online form that helps teachers request new course sites, with an option available to choose another of their courses as a template.  We recently noticed that hidden courses do not show up in the form: teachers must first make the course available and only then can they proceed with the duplication process.  I find this a bit strange, as teachers should continue to see all their courses, as visibility is linked to their role.

We do have cases where some courses must be hidden from students and would prefer not making these visible during a given time period.

Am I missing something?  Thanks for your help.

Is it just your teachers who can't see it on the form when it's hidden? If so, the teacher role might need an extra permission, or, If your teachers don't have any role "outside" of their course, then Consider making a site or category level role with just the permission to view hidden courses and categories (or what ever is needed so they can see it the way expected)? Just some thoughts

Hi John, thanks for your reply. Normally, teachers should have access as the form is not available to unauthenticated users. I will double-check to see if the form takes into consideration the role's permissions, thanks for the heads-up!
