Quiz is only showing as Preview

Hello!  Using Moodle 3.10.  We have users who are assigned a system role such as Teacher or Editing Teacher but need to be a Student in a course where there is a quiz.  Any user with an elevated system role can only preview the quiz.  How can we get these users to actually take the quiz.

In the course, they show as Student, Editing Teacher for instance.  Picking up the Student role when being enrolled in the course and carrying the Teacher or Editing Teacher role from system assignment.

thank you.

Jackie - give them a completely different account to use as a student. If they have a system role as teacher etc then a separate account is the only way to achieve this.

Mary. Do you recommend that other than system administrators users not be given system and/or tenant roles so that you don't have to have duplicate accounts?

Hi Jackie - If I may chip in and reflect on my own experience as a site admin of a large Moodle site, users who have a system-level role as a teacher (or manager) sometimes get confused about why they can't experience a course as a student would. This confusion is more likely to arise if they're not a regular user of the Moodle site. On the other hand, if they use the site regularly they might remember that they have a high-level role across the site, and what the privileges and drawbacks are of having this level of access.

I agree with Mary about asking high-level users to use a completely different account for student rights, and perhaps they could use a slightly different name on their account profile just so they know this is their student account, eg, John Doe (student). If they need an account with student rights simply to test things out and not actually be a student, the profile name could explicitly identify this as a test account, eg, John Test Account.

Cheers,
Ravi
