Dunno ... some variables are 'arrays' - look at your config.php file and you will see the DB variables are in an array.

Setting a variable in an array might be possible but one has to figure out the labels/etc to the arrays.

IF am following you correctly in what you want to do.   IF ... IF ... it's a matter of changing how an admin link displays text/language then one might be able to edit the language pack and change the default to something else.
