Sorry, I am a relatively new user of the Moodle LMS. I am trying to 'edit an essay question' and there is a default mark box after the question text box. See the image below. Should it be the same as the one on the page before with the title 'editing the quiz'? Thanks in advance for your kind guidance.

Here is how it works:

When you first add the question to the quiz, the mark for that question on the 'Editing the quiz' page is set to the 'Default mark' from inside the question.

After that, the only number that matters is the number on the 'Editing the quiz' page. That is what determines what happens when a student starts a quiz attempt.

(So, there is no requirement for the two numbers to be the same.)
