Wildcards driving me wild (read: crazy)

Wildcards driving me wild (read: crazy)

Hi,

After looking at here:

https://docs.moodle.org/310/en/Short-Answer_question_type#Wildcard_usage

I set my Cloze questions up with the correct answers listed using wildcards.

Here's an example:

key: {1:SHORTANSWER:~%100%*Base*pairing*H*bonding*}

answer: base-paring through H-bonding

MOODLE mark: partially correct.

Why isn't this answer being accepted as fully correct, based on this key?

Is there more to the wildcard usage than what is explained/listed on that documentation page?

Thanks.

NEVERMIND!

My brain was reading it right... 🙄

So, that brings up another point: misspelled answers. I guess there's no way to deal with mistakes like this, other than marking them manually, or including potential misspelled versions into the key, right?

By the way, I could not find a way of deleting a posted question here or editing it. Is there a way?

Hi!
In short answers, IMHO, wildcards are pretty useless because they might accept as correct an infinite number of wrong answers. That is why I have developed my own REGEXP question type. It's a pity that you cannot have plugins installed on your institutional Moodle site. Maybe one day...

LTI looks a bit complicated to configure. Maybe I should give it a try on my test sites.
