Below is my response to an important post from Martin Dougiamas concerning themes, from the Accessibility forum. Please post comments there.

Hi Martin. Sorry to have got you concerned - I perhaps haven't been
communicating my changes and there likely impact clearly enough. I will
also post to the themes forum.
I
think you can see from Urs' comments that the themes issue is not as
big as you initially feared. I have now used Moodle's theme previewer
to quantify the impact - a quick and dirty table is attached which
demonstrates that of the 15 themes previewed 12 appear to need no
change - 80% success. The 3 that need some modification include the
'pda' theme, which would have need checking for accessibility/usability
in any case.
Why the You are here using italics...?
- I like compact markup, but in this case I agree it could confuse other developers - will fix ASAP.
New arrow images... should use $CFG->pixpath
- will fix ASAP, and look at filenames. (The 'em1' in the name refers to them being resizable - try Ctrl + Mouse wheel.)
I'm
fully aware of the need to minimise risk at this late stage and I will
work with the theme maintainers. I hope this reassures you - comments
welcome.
Thanks Nick
