Hi everyone,

This is a message to let you know that code freeze for Moodle 3.10 will start this Monday 5 October. After this time no new code will be accepted into integration until the release is out.

We will now focus on integrating the final changes, QA testing and fixing issues found with the existing code. Please also see our releases page.

Next week, Monday October 12th, is the start of the QA cycle for this release. We would love your help with testing!

For plugin developers; once the final issues for 3.10 have been integrated you are encouraged to check your plugin for compatibility.

As a reminder; this release (and 3.11) will see fewer big HQ led changes because we are working towards significant UX improvements for Moodle 4.0, scheduled for release in November 2021. Areas we will be working to improve are navigation and the primary course experience for teachers creating courses and students taking courses. Stay tuned and follow our initial UX research.

And of course finally, a big thank you all who have contributed to the 3.10 release!

Just to note a small nuance on what Sander said.

If, following code-freeze, you suddenly find an improvement / new feature that you think has a really good case to still be included, then there is a process involving the 'unhold_requested' tag in the tracker which you can use if you really think it is important enough: https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Integration_Review#During_continuous_integration.2FFreeze.2FQA_period. Not to be abused!
