Hello smiler

On the Moodle chat function that works across the site (i.e. not the activity), is it possible to create a group chat? I notice there’s a heading called ‘Groups’ between ‘Starred’ and ‘Private’ but I haven’t found any way to make one. The only alternative I’ve found so far is to make a Chat activity in a course, but this doesn’t seem to persist for users throughout the site.

You have found the group messaging feature- to set this up you need to make a group in your course and as you are creating the group, you check the box to enable group messaging. See the page Messaging and the section on group messaging.
