Setting seperate default roles

Hi just joined the moodle comunity, so forgive me if this has been covered.

I need to set up 2 levels of access for all users. The useual default 'Authenticated user' role is okay for most users, but we need to limit some temporary users for some permissions, mainly changing passwords, editing profiles etc.  I can see these can be done on a system wide basis but is too crude.

The query I am looking for help on is:

  • I cannot seem to find a methiod of removing permissions on a user specific basis - is there such a feature?
  • I know we can create and set as default custom roles (under user/permissions) , is there a way of applying extra permissions or limiting base permissions to a specific user?
Thanks in advance Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the Moodle community!

To remove permissions for a specific user you would create a custom role e.g. Demo teacher role (not allowed to change password or edit profile) and assign it to them.
