Has anyone been using BigBlueButton?  Any issues with the server-side install?  Any security concerns?

Thanks,

Yes, many, may be hundreds of thousands use BBB. And it is meant for a server. See their install page.

About security: Well, a service won't take care of the security of the whole server. It is the responsibility of the system administrator in coordination with the network administrator.

Either way, BBB is a separate piece of software. You have to consult their site for more. If you mean the BBB plug-in for Moodle, the discussions are in the Web conferencing plugins forum.

Our experience is that running a BBB server is not straightforward. This is not a criticism of BBB - it holds true for all software of this type.

BBB is a perfectly good choice but I would recommend buying the service from Blindside rather than doing it yourself. Unless you enjoy a challenge.

Specially vicious, if you run BBB behind a NAT firewall. Just today an update made such a server unusable. All kinds of error codes for audio and video. Going through the whole installation procedure again.
