i would go further and say (without rewriting the .htaccess file completely) that you *cannot* run Moodle inside a Wordpress directory. The Wordpress .htaccess rewrite rules definitely break Moodle. Although, I don't think it would work at all if that were the case.
Re: Fresh Moodle Install. I can't assign roles for courses and I have empty blocks in Dashboard.
