Am gonna decline 'guessing' ... install mysqltuner and run it.  Time to get 'not new'! smile

Look at the recommendations ... note that's recommendations ... at the bottom of what tuner outputs.   Do also heed the 'warnings' and read the linked 'more info' links.

Compare your my.cnf with recommendations of Tuner.

Any differences?

Share back here ... and be specific ... only those that fit criteria above - differences ... AND also share back any info found about those settings.

MySQL and MariaDB have very good online manuals ... consult them!

Plus ... complete description of setup ... web server and DB server on same machine?  How much memory does single server have or if web server and DB server how much for each.

How many users?

What's daily hit rate?

Config of DB server not a guessing kinda thing.

And, I'll repeat ... time to 'study up' ... yes, that takes time ... best NOT to make massive changes to my.cnf (guessing).  In your study find out which/what settings give you the biggest return on performance.

Now to do that one has to allow server(s) to run for a while ... AND monitor ... things like top, etc.

No quick fix here!  smile  And remember, you ... you are the admin of your setup/server.  Your server isn't admin'd by forums! smile

Well, it is hard to follow ... but that's what happens when folks piggy-back and jaberwalk and hijack!

Just goin' with the flow!

Personally, I don't mind folks riding on piggy-backs or sing Jabberwocky. But if they call my name in the process, I would be rattled. ;(

I split this post as it had nothing to do with php.ini settings. Please don't hijack other threads - they're free, you can have your own wink
