Does Moodle support on-line (live) classes?

In one week, after spring break, I am expected to teach my classes online and it will go on for at least three weeks.  The school is going to give a crash course using WebEx  and is giving out laptops, wireless mouse (mouses? Mice? Meeses?), keyboard and Web cams.

Can this course go through Moodle?  At least then, I might have student pics, maybe other benefits too.

You will probably get a good number of replies and ideas.

I think that there is "Big Blue Button" that integrates well with Moodle. I don't use it, so that's about all that I know. You might want to "go with the flow" and use the school's proposed WebEx solution. My school uses Zoom, for example, and that is what I would use if I had to do "webinars."

My university appears to be in the same situation... going online because they canceled in-class courses. I am an online instructor, so none of the problems apply to me. My students will not miss any beat. And I have a different approach: I create my own lecture videos that I deliver asynchronously. I am opposed to using "webinar" products for instruction. Well, just me.

My methods are sometimes different. I use Moodle whereas my school uses Canvas. However, my MBA online course is the only Quality Matters certified course at my (Big 10) university, if you can believe this!

If your login true indication of version of Moodle ...
the plugin above is compatible.

From plugin page:
Current Limitations
This software is currently in beta, so there are a number of known limitations (and there are expected to be unfound bugs):

Backup and Restore do not work.
Only Training Center and Meeting Center are supported.

All your students would need a school laptop?  How about personal (Mac Users ... have camera aleady built in)?   Devices?

Good points, Ken.

Many schools in this situation are looking at "webinar" software as a quick solution.  I am one who favors the "flipped" approach, and to create content lectures that can be delivered asynchronously.

There are many ways to teach, and many tools available.

Yep ... aware of survey ... and 'divisions'.   Once again appears K12 not among (just like Moodle forums).  Might be wrong, but experiences in K12 -> to preferences -> eventually decision making (expectations of learners).

So this has nothing to do with the Corona virus? Ironically, the virus has triggered a boom in on-line live classes. See Coronavirus - Video / class conferencing options we should consider and the discussion linked to it.
