Restricting certificate by cohort? Certificates for multiple courses?

Restricting certificate by cohort? Certificates for multiple courses?

Moodle 3.6

One challenge we have is we are trying to move away from a custom programming certificate (that breaks with any updates/wind blowing) to using the custom certificates. Two issues.

Create a single Certificate and issue when the student passes the final exam - easy.

1/Create a overall Certificate when a student passes exams in multiple courses - not working.  We tried creating a master course  (not the parent/child set) to have the main certificate in with the certificate being awarded when the student completes the four courses (all conditions set in the individual courses).  Nothing ever happens.

2/We also need to set certain users to get certificates but not all.  We can do that with user profile field but then we would have to edit every student profile.  Cohorts would be great but I don't know if we can set certificate access by cohort.

I'm trying to search forums but haven't found solutions that work yet. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi Martha,

You could look at using the Subcourse plugin.
Subcourse would pull the course grade/completion from another course into your master course.
Subcourse grades are treated like activities.
You could then issue the master certificate based on grades coming from the other courses.
Just a thought.
Cheers
