Maintainer needed: Remote Backup Provider

The plugin "Remote Backup Provider" (https://moodle.org/plugins/local_remote_backup_provider) needs a new maintainer. 

 This local module allows you to restore a course from a remote Moodle instance into your current instance via a REST web service. The intended use case is quick restores from an archival Moodle instance into the current yearly instance.


This plugin is currently owned by Lafayette College, but we no longer have the resources available to maintain it. We would be happy to hand it over to any responsible maintainer.

I'm interested to take up the maintenance of this plugin. We have a similar plugin in wordpress/learndash which you can check here. I was in the process of developing this plugin for moodle and soon realized that its available and needs a new maintainer.

Just noting there also exists "Restore courses from remote Moodles" (https://moodle.org/plugins/block_my_external_backup_restore_courses), which seems to do the same thing.

Thanks for mentioning that. I checked that one out but it seems been updated only 3 years ago. We could make `Remote Backup Provider` run on the latest Moodle and it has a few recent code check-ins despite the fact that the maintainer wants to give up maintenance of the plugin. So, I'm confident I want to take up this one.

Hi Andrew, I see the plugin is still seeking for a new maintainer, If that's the case I would like to express interest to take up the role. I have experience on a similar private moodle plugin. I believe this functionality can go beyond to be accessible for non managing roles too.

I note a few people have expressed an interest but the original developer hasn't initiated a transfer. One thing we like to see from people that are keen to adopt a plugin is something that shows the developers intent and ability to pick it up. One great way to do that is by creating a pull request or fork with fixes to support a current moodle release.
