I am experimenting with moodle. I made a demo course, and I noticed that when a user first enters a course they see a big, long list of all sections. How do I prevent this? I tried to restrict access to the "general page". I also tried to change the settings for one topic per page, but that only works for the topic pages.
Surely, I am not the first person to want to adjust the appearance of moodle in this way? Is there some change to the settings I can easily adjust so when a user first clicks on the course to take the course they are presented only with the first section or some sort of introductory section, rather than the entire outline?
I'd also like to add I am using a video-heavy sort of presentation, and it just looks strange to have 20 embedded videos on the same page. It just doesn't look professional. I hate the way it looks.

Here are two suggestions that I use:
1) I hide most sections and then turn new sections on each week. So at the beginning of the course, the student only sees two sections.
2) I use the Collapsed Topics plugin which provides the students control over collapsing and uncollapsing each section.
The combination of these two ideas works well for me.

Put your videos in a Book activity?
Can we see screenshots of your course page? Then we can offer suggestions about how to restructure it.
