while it does not solve the underlying usability problems with the "your session has most likely times out" modal which I would simply like to second, you might want to have a look at our plugin https://moodle.org/plugins/local_session_keepalive which simply keeps your session alive as soon as you have started to type something in a form, e.g. a forum post or an assignment grading.
