I would just like to add to my last post that Subcourse plugin certainly does seem to do the trick.
One tip, make sure that the grade formats in both courses match otherwise you may get some strange results.
By match I do mean that you are using the same configuration. In my main course for example I have a point score and am using points 1 to 6. I am also using the mean of the totals and only one decimal place. I have set the target course, the one I'm pulling grades into to be exactly the same.
Why I mention this is that to begin with I did notice a slight difference in the grades being reflected in the two courses. By effecting the changes I mention above, I was able to fix this aspect.
