Installing Moodle 3.7.1 on GoDaddy

Has anyone had any luck with installing Moodle 3.7.1 on GoDaddy. I'm running a Windows instance in GoDaddy.

When I tried I had an error:

"PHP Extension - The 'intl' extension was not found."

I contacted GoDaddy support and they were no help at all.

I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

Cheers.

I have owned and used a GoDaddy VPS for a number of years, with great success.  I am not sure which product you purchased from GoDaddy.  On my VPS, I have cPanel, which allows me to easily turn on php extensions, including intl.

If one purchases a VPS from GoDaddy, without support, they expect you to know what you are doing.  If you are a novice with a VPS, you will have some learning to do.  If you have purchased a Hosted server, you might run into difficulties with some hosted servers not meeting Moodle's minimum requirements.  I have not tried and newer hosted servers, so I really can't comment.  If you are installing from a one-click installation program, don't.

On a very positive side, my VPS has never been "down."  (Probably I am just lucky.)  There are some folks who hang out on Moodle.org who do not care for GoDaddy, so you will probably see some negative comments along the way.

I am not connected with GoDaddy in any way, I am just speaking from my own experience.  I have been used GoDaddy for about a dozen years, and find their servers to be solid.  GoDaddy is a server company, not a Moodle provider, so don't expect GoDaddy to help with any Moodle questions.  But they do help with server questions.  I don't know what you had really asked them and how they really replied, but the communication of needs and understanding responses sometimes can be challenging.

Any reason you went for a Windows VPS? The Linux install is more common.

Good point, James. So I will add that my GoDaddy VPS is a Linux product, not Windows.

James, I seem to recall that you had worked with GoDaddy a little too, maybe in China. (I might be wrong, however.) But then I recall that you found a server company that worked for you in China. I cannot recall the details. Am I somewhat on target?
