editing users preferences - hiding emails of all students in the course

Hello,

for all my students in the course, I would like to change their user preferences - hiding email addresses for everyone.

As I see as admin, this can be done only manually - either by the user or the admin has to do this, but only one-by-one.

Isn't there a way to do this for all students ?

Thanks.

An admin can do it with a user csv file by including the maildisplay field. 0 will set it to hide. 1 will set it to visible by everyone. 2 will set it to visible to other course members.

Hi Al,

thanks for the hint.

However, I have users  present in the course (and who did some activities).

Should I do the uploading of all (exported) users in the course with proper email settings ? This seems to be risky...

Rather, I would write them message about possibility to change their email settings.

Hi Miro,

During the upload the admin can specify that only the users with changes, and only the changes, get updated.
