There is a Public Files block available as a plugin, but it's not yet been updated for 3.6 - https://moodle.org/plugins/block_public_files

A workaround would be to add your files to the Main Menu block on the front page, then hard code a link to the file/s in an HTML block on the dashboard - and then hide the Main Menu block so that your front page doesn't show the files publicly smile

Thanks Jon.

I tried out the Public Files plugin but it doesn't work properly on 3.6. The files are only displayed on your account and other users cannot view them.
