Moodle Mobile App: Invalid json in request: Syntax error

Currently, we are not able to connect our Moodle site (version 3.6.1+ (Build: 20181220)) using the Moodle Mobile app (latest version: neither in iOS nor in Android). The error message appears as "Coding error detected, it must be fixed by a programmer: Invalid json in request: Syntax error". 

I have already checked all the points described here: https://docs.moodle.org/34/en/Moodle_Mobile_FAQ#Administrators

The Moodle site uses an SSL certificate which is trusted and was fine according to the two links (SSL Checker, SSL Server Test). The is

Dear Isabel, many thanks for the helpful links. In the end it turned out to be the Plugin "Email-based self-registration with admin confirmation". After I have re-installed and enabled this plugin, the Moodle Mobile login worked again.
