Syncing Secondary Glossaries to Main Glossary

Syncing Secondary Glossaries to Main Glossary

Hi all,

First-time poster here... I am building a large course with 38 chapters/modules.  Each chapter has a secondary glossary with anywhere from 5 to 50+ entries.  I would like to sync all of the secondary glossaries to a main glossary on the course's welcome page, but I cannot figure out how.  I understand that I can link entries to auto-populate throughout the course pages, and that I can import or export entries in XML format (which I also don't know how to do, yet, but that's another story).  I have read that secondary glossaries can be tied to the main glossary, but I cannot find instructions to make this happen.  Can anyone offer any insight or help?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Chris and welcome to moodle.org smile

You can indeed choose particular entries from any number of secondary glossaries in the course and add them to the main glossary.

After creating a main glossary, if you then go to a secondary glossary, you'll notice next to each entry there is an 'Export to main glossary' icon (arrow with line under it).

For more information on what you can do with glossary entries, please see the documentation Using Glossary.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but is there any function to export all entries to the main glossary? Doing them one by one is tedious, especially since there is an intermediate page load that asks if you are sure you want to export the entry.
