Hi folks,

We'll be hosting the next online community developer meeting on Thursday, the 8th of November at 13:00 UTC. More details can be found on the meeting agenda page. It's an opportunity to meet face-to-face, listen to Moodle HQ developers and other community developers, and ask questions if you have any!

Hope to see you there!

Thanks Elizabeth,

The initiative is appreciated, we need to do this type of sessions often, so that we can share good and bad experiences to practice and learn.

see you all online!

Cheers,

KB

Loved the recording with the automatic transcription. I added my notes of the meeting to the Etherpad, if you don't mind having more verbose notes.

Nice to hear that the meetings are going to be monthly now.

Hi Elizabeth

I note that you intend to maintain the time the same for future meetings of this kind.  Would you give some consideration to making it another time once in a while so those from odd corners of the World (NZ for example) can join in?

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

Absolutely. I'd like to get a sense of how often to hold the meetings at an alternative time, and obviously asking people who can attend the meetings during the current time won't work.... I'm open to suggestions.

You can follow the model of the MUA. They host meetings the meetings in alternating times.

Maybe someone in the Perth timezone can host the meetings every other time.

Thanks Elizabeth

A Moodle Choice would work but the problem of making sure that you get the people who commit to attending may be difficult to solve.

I have, when faced with this issue in the past, used the Choice as a negotiating mechanism.  If you set the poll with a range of time choices such that people can view the results and change their vote then you can reach a consensus/compromise that way.

You can't please everyone of course, it's always 3 AM somewhere in the World!

The notes and videos are a good fallback for me so I don't want to overstate the issue.

Cheers

Richard
