Special Characters in Module

Hi, my company uses both French and English e-module content to deliver our corporate training nationwide. Since we have a problem with network connectivity at some of our sites, we've decided to give Moodle a go. So far it works great, but I have two (2) questions.

  1. Is there a way to have a two languages for an emodule (eg. module_FR.zip and moduel_EN.zip) which would be loaded based on the language you for the site. For example, if I were to chose EN for the site, only the EN module will appear for the course content and vice versa for the FR language.

  2. The learning content that we have uploaded to our corporate platform runs the content smoothly, but when I upload the French content to Moodle, all the special characters appear as boxes as opposed to the correct ones (box as opposed to é) - see attached for example.
