Plugin Atto: Corrections

Dear all,

We're thinking about using the plugin atto:corrections, but not directly in the sense it was developed for. When you download it, you have some correction types per default like orthographic error, pronoun error, capitalization, etc.

What we like to use it for is the following: Some lecturers are missing a function in Moodle, when manual grading Essay Questions, to visualize their comments and remarks in the student's answer. They are used to do that when grading paper based exams. By that it is easier for them to explain the students in a viewing of the exam, why they received only 1 point for a question or 0 points and so on.

With atto:corrections this is possible. The lecturer can copy the answer of the student into the comment area and then mark parts of the answer, use some "correction type" and even write a comment on that correction type, which is made visible at the viewing of the exam by hovering over that part.

For testing we used some correction types like:

  • 0 points
  • 0.5 points
  • 1 point
  • n points (to write the points in the comment field)
  • correct
  • partially correct
  • incorrect
Since these correction types have to be set by the moodle admin and by that are global, we need to think about which ones work best for the most part of the users.

Therefore we wonder, if someone else is already using the plugin with the same purpose and if so, which "correction types" do you use?

Best regards,
Tony
