Apparently there is a long trail of the role of the "big tech" in world affairs. Watch this (fairly old Oct 2017) video:
US Tech Giants Oddly Unhelpful On Russia | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC
Elizabeth Dwoskin, Silicon Valley correspondent for the Washington Post, talks with Rachel Maddow about the slow pace of discovery of Russian ad buying and other online manipulations as U.S. tech giants like Twitter, Facebook, and Google have seemed reluctant to give up information.

I know, these thing are not directly Moodle-related. But they remind me the euphory we had on moodle.org forums. Going there voluntarily is one thing, sending minors, sometimes young kids, is irresponsible.

Yes, it is the climax: https://yro.slashdot.org/story/18/12/19/049257/facebook-gave-more-than-150-companies-including-microsoft-netflix-spotify-amazon-and-yahoo-unprecedented-access-to-users-personal-data-nyt

That wasn't the only one. The mountain of bad news is simply too much to count. In case your echo chamber was quiet in this channel, just search your favourite news site for 'facebook'. Here's a sample: https://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=facebook.

I know, I am the only person who posts once a while the negative Facebook makes. This time I wouldn't have done it, if an astronomical amount of money was not mentioned:

For 35 Billion Dollar they must have committed or earned like a platoon of sultans.

And why US is not too keen on breaking Facebook:
