Ah, I thought that might've been the case. Unfortunately the course is already up and running (it's an online, join any time you like, kind of thing) so from the sounds of it I won't be able to know completion for the past month, unless I turn them on now and wait a month?
I'll have a look at upgrading and at the reporting and statistics routes.
I wondered if you might now exactly how to find the users who have been issued with a certificate using mod_certificate?
