Why do you need them to be together in the same assignment? Perhaps if we knew a little more we could figure out a work around. Do you need both sets of students to have a grade in the grade book? Or do you need them for an activity completion or a certificate? Please also tell us what version of Moodle you are using and if you are needing a grade in the grade book what type of aggregation you are using.
