Your organisation's Moodle installation needs to be updated

My Moodle version is 2.5+.  

When I access the activities inside a course through the app , I am getting this error "Oops! Your organisation's Moodle installation needs to be updated. You can still use it using your device's browser".

I have tried the same in Moodle 3 version also. Still getting same error . Could you please help me to sort it ?

It will be very helpful.

Hi Jerin,

Can you specify which type of activity are you trying to access? This error message means that the Moodle version does not support the activity you are entering. In this case you can do two things:

  1. Update Moodle Core to the latest version to ensure all activities that are supported by the app are also supported by the Moodle core version.
    You can check the activities that are supported for each version of Moodle on https://docs.moodle.org/31/en/Moodle_Mobile_features#Comparison_of_features_in_different_versions.
  2. The other way to have more activities supported is to install Moodle Mobile additional features plugin. You can check what activities are supported for each version in the same table.

Hi Pau ,

My Moodle version is Moodle 2.5.2 . When I was tried in Moodle 3 , showing the same error.  Since there is some code customization s   , I cannot upgrade it easily.  What is the point 2 you said ?

Hi Jerin,


Please, tell us what is the activity that shows the error. As you can see in the table Wiki and Quiz are activities that are not supported in 2.5 neither in 3.0 and you will need to upgrade to 3.1 or install the plugin I told you. The plugin allow your Moodle to enable more Moodle Mobile features even in old versions. For example, survey activity is not supported by Moodle 2.5 but installing this plugin will.  There are some limitations for every version, check this table to see them. For more information about the plugin please follow the link bellow:
