Disable all communication during exam

Hello,

My university is using Moodle as an official platform. As such, we'd like to use Moodle and the Virtual Programming Lab (VPL) plugin to grade a programming exam in a very controlled manner. We are able to configure firewalls in our laboratories to block access to all other sites except Moodle and some API documentation, but we still have a problem with Moodle itself as it allows communication through the internal messenger system as well as through forum posting. I know that the site admin can disable the messenger module for the two days we scheduled the exam, but the question is: is there a way to freeze all forums for the duration of the exam?

Thank you,

R.

One of the Browser security options in Quiz might be useful for you.

Unfortunately, the VPL plugin is not a Quiz and thus it doesn't have the Browser security options.

Hi Radu

You may want to hide the blocks on the specific page your plugin loads on.

Happy Moodling!

Hi Kim,

The course itself has no forums. However, since we're a University, there are countless other courses each with their own forums. We need an automatic way to temporarily disable them all for a weekend.

Thanks,
Radu

Ask your system admin to create a new site wide role with messaging, forums etc. permissions removed and ask him/her to assign it to all students doing the exam for those two days?
