Eguru theme front page course descriptions

Hi everyone,

I hope I'm at the right place. What I would like is to have all the courses displayed on the front page with everything expanded. As in the screenshot, I'd like all the courses to be like the 2nd Course (with Summary expanded) without having to click on Info icon

I found this document https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Courses_and_Categories_Lists_Overview_in_2.4

and as far as I can see there, the default behavior is to expand the summary.

However, it seems that it's been changed since (I'm running Moodle ver. 2.9.5)
Any help appreciated!

Regards,

Alex

Hello there. The documentation you found is out of date (24 means Moodle 2.4) The documentation for Moodle 2.9 is here: https://docs.moodle.org/29/en/Main_page

(Note the number in the URL - each version has its own documentation so you can always get the most up to date version.)

For what you want, have a look at Course FAQ the number 3 - Some of my courses have the course summaries showing but some only have an information icon. Why?

Hi Mary,

thanks for replying. Yes, I knew all this about the documentation. I just mentioned it as a comparison with version 2.9.5, thinking that this kind of behavior was let out after 2.4.

But, my Misc category has only 2 courses, and yet I cannot get Moodle to show courses summaries without clicking the Info icon. The link you gave me states that I should have over 10 courses in a category for the summaries not to be shown, whereas I have only 2.

Regards,

Alex

So what number do you have in Administration > Site Administration > Appearance > Courses? The default of 10?

Hi Mary,

I have  double the default settings and it works now for Clean theme.
But, why doesn't it work for Eguru theme? I have the exact same settings,
and Eguru displays available courses like tiles? Can this be changed somehow?

Sorry - I don't know anything about custom themes but I  have split this discussion, renamed it with ref to Eguru and am about to move it to the Themes forum where you might get more specialised help.

Have you checked the settings in the Eguru theme? You should have the option to display as tiles or the normal view.

Site Administration > Appearance > Themes > EGuru settings

If not then get another theme!

Cheers
