Hello guys!

I'm developing a plugin (https://github.com/leorenis/icontent) to be published in the Moodle community and, fortunately, I'm almost done. I'm having trouble creating the mechanism to restore the plug-in data in a new course. I've read several times documentation and posted my doubts in some Brazilian communities, but unfortunately I have not had success. If possible, I count on your help.

Learn more about iContent plugin <https://github.com/leorenis/icontent>;.

smile Thank you very much!

What's the point of your iContent plugin over the SCORM activity? And over the Lesson activity?

Re: New activity: iContent

by Léo Renis Santos -

Hello David,

The big difference from other plugins, is that the iContent is focused on interactivity, usability and accessibility. With it, students can interact with each other through annotations and likes, in the same activity.
In addition, the tool has modern and innovative features such as page markers, AJAX requests, cover page, control buttons, among others resources that gives readers a clean, pleasant and easy environment. Read more at: https://github.com/leorenis/icontent.
My goal is to present the content in a clear and dynamic way, using technological resources students already use in other environments.

Best regards!

Sincerely

Hello Marcus,
My goal is to create a useful tool and open source. The project is under development, I am working to submit the community as quick as possible. The development process is incremental. Indeed, there will be news in each iteration of the versions.

Feel at ease to know more about the project.

Best regards!

Hi Leo, I have just installed the icontent module into a 3.1 Moodle.

Do you have a configuration guide or setup documentation, as I obtained a DML exception when I first entered the module as a student. Returning to the module, as admin, I was presented with an add new page menu ( mod/icontent/edit.php?cmid=2).

I will try and replicate the database exception, and provide more information tomorrow.

Best

Nick

I will perform tests in version 3.1 of Moodle. Please whenever you find new bugs, share them with me.

This looks very interesting. But the details are still a bit vague. When you get time, a screencast or some annotated screenshots of it in action would be great.

Hello Leo

First thank you for this tool, we are testing it on our 3.1 Moodle and it looks very interesting!

Also, i still wonder, why should it be another creature then the lesson activity? It seems to have the same goals..

Obviously the "content page" has some more options, but wouldn't be better to add those awesome features to the existing lesson activity?

Hello Léo,

I have tested this plugin during an upgrade from Moodle 3.2 to Moodle 3.5.

Unfortunately the plugin does not work on Moodle 3.5.
are you still developing the plugin?

Do you know when a 3.5 version of the plugin will become available?

Thank you,

with kind regards,

Hi,

I have, hopefully, a very simple question. I'm trying out this plugin within my Moodle site and can't understand the adding of questions. It keeps saying Bank Question is empty, while it's not. I've created 3 questions of all levels, to make sure that this isn't the problem.

Can you fill in en tell me something more about this function of adding questions to my pages in the plugin? Or refer me to a document that explains this to me clearer.

Thank you on beforehand!

Best regards,
Briënne

Dear Brienne,

To add questions to the content page, verify that the question bank has questions of type: Multiple choice, match, true false or essay.

Please, tell me if it worked!

Thank you.

I have installed it in Moodle 3.2.  Denis said it worked https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_icontent (Thanks!!).  But it has an odd feature, Maybe a bug?

  1. View page in iContent
  2. Scroll down
  3. Click Advance

  • In Boost: stays where it is and advances, ie you need to scroll UP
  • In Clean: returns to the top of the presenting slide and advances. Probably the expected behaviour?

Hi Derek,

Seems odd to me...in iContent when I scroll down then click advance, in both Boost and Clean it stays where it is and advances, i.e. you need to scroll up.

Another oddity, I have both a Theme and Language drop down menu and both become unresponsive when in an iContent activity. If I want to change the theme or language I have to back out to the course level for the menus to work.

So far I've tested with Firefox, Chrome and Safari and see the same behavior with all three.

Moodle 3.2+, Centos 7.2.1511, PHP 7.0.7, MySQL 5.6.31.and iContent 1.0.4.

AL, do you have any inside information as to if iContent is still in development?  It is an awkward time of year for some parts of the world (like every independent cafe near where I live has been on holiday until today), and the developers may just be taking a break.

The last git update was in September.

Hi Derek,

Sorry, no info as to further development of iContent. It does worry me a bit that the last time there was an update to the plugin on github was four months ago...but being a maintainer of two plugins myself, I don't think that's too unusual. My general policy on plugin use is to limit my use of new plugins for my production site until I can see a good history of support and updates.

For slide show type information presentation I currently use the Moodle Book resource. I have started development of Sippets (made possible by Justin Hunt's latest plugin for Atto editor) for rapid HTML layout. I am also investigating additional slideshow type capabilities via Generico filters.

Re: New activity: iContent

by scott hallman -

Hi Leo.

We were very excited about your plug in. its great to have book and quiz combined and have the bonus of adding notes

We have it installed on 3.2. But in beginning to use it there seem to be some issues or rather improvements.

When adding pages with the plus button (not in the block) your pages finish in reverse order and you have to reorder them.

If you add essay questions the text box is always the same size, you cannot use a response template and the students can't see what they have written

If you go to mark the essay questions manually then there is an error and they cannot be marked

A lot of question types are not recognised by Content pages. A list of the ones that are compatible would be great.

Many staff would also like to turn off doubts (or at least call them something different.

Because of all these faults we have had to go back to using just quiz and pattern match question to give text entry and direct feedback to provide interactive learning. Its a shame as the content pages activity shows so much promise.

We hope you can find time to address these bugs.

All the best Scott

This is just my observation on how questions can be added, deleted, reordered.

First, if questions on a page have been attempted, you can NOT add or remove questions. In the past, I have duplicated the activity, which then allowed me to change questions BECAUSE no questions were duplicated!

If questions have not been attempted, you can click on the, Add new question, button. From the page of questions that appears, you can select up to three questions. They seem to be added to the page in alphabetical order based on the question name.

If questions have not been attempted, you can change the question name to get the order you want.

If questions have not been attempted, you can change the selected questions to add or remove questions, so long as you select three or less.

Hello!

I want to add "drag and drop onto image" a question type from a question bank. However, I cannot see that question in a question bank when I want to add it in content pages, although this question exist. Is there any unsupported question types in Content pages?

Thank you

There is a very limited set of supported question types. So far as I know, it is True/False, Multiple Choice, and Matching.

Hi Leo -

I have just installed your Content Pages plugin for my Moodle instance. I am having trouble figuring out how to configure activity completion as well as receiving a grade. What I am attempting to do is create a slide deck. At the end of the slide deck I want to have some questions. When the student has completed the questions I want them to receive a grade. Is this possible with your plugin?

Any help / insight you may have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am having trouble figuring out how to configure activity completion as well as receiving a grade. - Activity completion is set up just like any other activity by selecting Activity Completion options on the Edit page of the activity. Grade options are also set on the Edit page.

You can place questions on any content slide, don't have to place at the end, but you can do them that way, if you really want to.

Hi Leo,

I really like the plugin. I particularly like the option for students to take notes. 1 feature request though.. would it be possible to add a switch so that questions can be sent by e-mail to the teacher?
