I need a portal on my Moodle site where students can upload material (mostly word, Pages or PDF files but also sometimes video and audio files) as evidence to support RPL or skills and knowledge. Will assignment work for this or should I be using something else??
Yes - assignments will work - that will keep their uploads private between you and them. If you are happy with the assignment activity then use that.
Equally a forum with attachments will work if you don't mind them seeing each others' uploads , or a database activity into which they can upload, which you can either keep private between you and them or allow everyone to see.
