Testing push notifications, I noted that at least in MM for iOS, they show some HTML tags:
The tags are not visible when message is open

thanks for reporting this, is a bug in the Moodle site (that is sending notifications with tags), I just opened this issue: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-53635
