Hi all,
I've just experienced a BBB session on LearnMoodle, and there was a very annoying chat notification peep every time someone posted to the chat. Not everyone seemed to have it, so I guess there is a setting somewhere to turn it off but I couldn't find it.
Can anyone help?

Just posting to say the annoying person was probably me - using Firefox if that is significant - and I couldn't find a way to mute the sounds. Might it be a setting in Firefox? I only ever use Chrome normally but I couldn't access the session in Chrome so I switched to Firefox.

Check under the Options tab in the chat. There should be an option for
Audible Chat Notification [x]
If you disable it, you shouldn't hear the sound. For more information see:

Hi Fred. This is what I see in BBB in Firefox on Windows 8. (I've just looked at your screenshot and I see I am missing the relevant bit.) I will go and check if my version of FF is up to date. I normally use Chrome so it might need updating. (EDIT... it is FF 43.0.4)

Interesting. We only show the notification in the cases where the client is emitting an audio sound, so users normally don't see it (this is part of my desire to keep the interface as simple as possible).
However, you may be hitting a case where you are getting the notifications yet we're still not displaying the options.
I'll reach out directly to follow-up and do a test together.

As a follow-up to this thread, the option to enable/disable chat notifications is now always visible. We've tested this change with Mary and she was able to disable the notifications on her computer.
This change will be part of the upcoming release. See

Thanks Fred. We did another live BBB session in our Teaching with Moodle MOOC yesterday and didn't have any annoying beeps at all - the sound was fine
