Modifying calendar events default notification from 1 hr to 24 hrs

Hi all -

We're still poking around, trying to understand how the MM app works (latest version), but one thing I can't figure out is how to adjust the default calendar alert notifications globally as an admin to be 24 hours rather than 1 hour. Or even just change the default at all.

Thinking as a student, it seems counterintuitive to not be able to set your own default notification time within an app these days. I know i'd hate to be expecting the app to alert me when something is due, thinking that I set the notification to happen a full day before it's due, and then I'm reminded with only 1 hr. left to go 'til deadline. 

So, is there a setting I'm missing? Is it a feature request?

Hi Drew,

right now there's no way to change the default notification time for all events, the student has to change them 1 by 1. We have planned to implement this feature so the users are able to change their default notification time. That would be done at app level, an admin wouldn't be able to set the notification time for a certain site.

We still don't know when will it be available though.

Thanks for the heads up, and the de-mystification! Is there an open issue ticket created yet that I can follow/track? 

Also, and this may need to be a different thread, but I'm noticing that changes in assignments/quizzes, such as name changes, due date or time changes, are not being pushed to the mobile app's Calendar Events or Notifications pages. Instead it requires a refresh. Is there a cron that runs (or should be running), that pushes any changes out to the mobile app? Or is a manual refresh the only way to load new data? 

Really trying to figure this black box out as best as possible before we make it available to students.

Hi again,

I created this issue for the events default notification time:

About your other question, the app tries to update the events happening in the next month when it's opened and only if it has passed 5 minutes since the last update. Right now we don't have any other synchronization process regarding calendar events.
