Functional questions...

Hi... I have some functional questions about dear, beloved Moodle:

  1. Email notification of assignment feedback.  It looks like the newest build of Moodle is automatically sending email notifications to students when they're assignments (and journals?) receive a grade and comments.  That's a very cool thing if so.  As a logistical point, does it resent a second notice if I make minor changes to the evaluation.  i.e. I catch a typo in my feedback to a given assignment later in the day and make a quick edit--does the student receive a second notification about "new" evaluation.  It's not a big deal.. I just might avoid making trivial edits to feedback at times to avoid crowding student inboxes if that's the case.
  2. Resubmitting Assignments.  If' I've enabled multiple submissions/uplaods and a student resubmits an assignment after I've already given feedback and a grade, how am I notified that a new assignment has been uploaded?  Is the old grade and feedback purged when the new file is uploaded (I hope not, since I'd want to refer back to that).
  3. Re-ordering courses sectionsI'm in the process of building a course in topic order, and I suddenly realized that "hey, I'd like to insert a topic #3" in this list.of 10 topics I've already created.  Is there an easy way to insert sections without having to shuffle individual assignments/resources/etc. across into the new section(s)?

Many thanks,
John

1. Yes, notifications gets sent after the same period as forum posts (eg 30 minutes). And yes, if you re-edit AFTER that period then notifications get resent.

2. When you look at assignment submissions, all the assignments that need grading are coloured differently (darker). eg one that has been resubmitted. Grades are not wiped until you change them.

3. No way to insert a whole topic yet. Shuffle time.

Cheers,
Martin

1. Great

2. Great

3. Gosh being able to insert -- or better yet, just shift up and down --  whole topics would be handy.  Very handy.  Hugely handy.  Wow.... really, really handy.  biggrin.gif
