Course Meta Link

Course Meta Link

I notice that the 2.0 method of Course Meta Link enrollment is very different from the old 1.9 version. I do have to say this new method is absolutely terrible and let me tell you why. I am hoping someone can offer some trick or option that might work better for me moving forward.

Let me start by saying what I currently use Meta Courses for.   We use them as resource pages where we want to add all Medical students for example into a lab resource page. Another use was for student surveys or messages meant to target large groups of users, lets say all Business students enrolled in courses with a prefix of BUS.

In the old Method, the course itself is set to Meta Course and when you get to the point to add the course, you could actually search for courses (let's say by session or program as indicated in the course name) and then add them all at once.  This method was very quick and easy to set up at the beginning of each term.

In the new method, the nice thing is that you can have multiple enrollment methods. One teacher enrolled manually and many students from multiple courses enrolled by meta link. The downside is that you can have to add only one class at a time. This becomes a tedious problem when trying to add say 100+ courses at the beginning of each 4 week term.
