Issue badges automatically for passing grade only?

Hi


I know how to create badges and set them up using activity tracking. I have a few set up at the moment for an assignment due next week. Currently, the criteria for activity completion is set to "when the student has been graded" or something like that. But what if it's a failing grade?

Is there any way to automatically only issue badges to students with a passing grade?

I know I could do it manually on a student-by-student basis, but that will become unmanageable with the number of students involved.

Surely the idea of issuing a badge for achieving something should incorporate the facility to only issue if the grade is a passing one? It seems a bit ridiculous to issue a badge automatically to a student just because they got a grade even if that grade is 10%.

Any pointers?

I have the same problem and the same question.

When I create an assignment, I can set a passing grade, but in "Activity completion" settings I can't see the option "Require passing grade", that it seems that it's avaiable in quiz activity only:

I have a solution, which is a bit cumbersome, but I believe is the only/best way to do this in Moodle right now.

Essentially what I did was to set up a "Label" with the criteria that the student could only see the label if they achieved a certain score in the assignment. Then, as part of the label, I have activity tracking where the student is directed to "tick this box for your grade and feedback". When they tick the box, the badge gets issued.

So, it's all about setting the access criteria for the label. You can set this up so that the label only becomes visible if the student scores within a certain range. And then the activity completion can be set on that label to trigger when the student manually ticks the box to say they've "completed" reading the label. Then, the badge issuing criteria can be set up to issue the badge when that particular label activity is complete.

It works well, but as I said it is a bit cumbersome. In my particular case, I have 4 badges for each assessment (ranging from a 1-star version for a D grade up to a 4-star version for an A grade), so I have 4 labels for each assessment. The students only see one label, though, depending on their grade.

So, in your case, when the teacher grade the assignment, the student doesn't receive the respective e-mail notification, does he? Because, otherwise, he would know his score without ticking the box.

I have to consider if I can apply your solution in my case, 'cause if the student doesn't receive the notification, he won't access the course (I know my students, haha...) and he won't tick any box...

I'll study it and, anyway, I hope to see the option "Require passing grade" also for assignment very soon!!

Yes, you are correct: my students have to actively tick the box to seek their result. That does not pose any issue in my case, as they are very keen!

You could always notify the class that the grades are ready to be viewed by sending them a message through the news/discussion forum, in which you could direct them to find the label and tick the box to see their result.

It's complicated because of our didactic method, 'cause we don't and can't have "classes"; each student can manage his study (and activity submission) as he wants. But nevertheless, certainly we'll find a solution!!

I want badges(Gold,Silver,Bronze etc..) automatically as per grade(Like 90%,80%,..) assign by teacher without view activity...
