How do you/is it possible to update a SCORM package? If so, do all previous attempts get deleted?

I routinely update SCORM packages. As you likely know the SCORM activity will only accept 1 SCORM file so, generally I upload a new SCORM file with a new file name to replace the former file within the SCORM activity.
The previous attempts do not get deleted automatically.
