Does Moodle allow a videoconference style teaching?

Does Moodle allow a videoconference style teaching?

Hello to everyone,

I am completely new to this site as well as this tool.  I am interested in starting online training for short courses. Can anyone tell me if Moodle allows teacher-trainee interaction through video (like group video conference), audio (if video conferencing is disabled by the instructor or training manager).  Does it allow to create a virtual class?

I appreciate your feedback

This functionality is not build into Moodle (because Moodle focusses on what you can do with web pages, and video conferencing requires more technology than that).

However, Moodle can integrate with most of the video conferenceing tools out there, including Big Blue Button, which was just used to run http://2015.imoot.org/, where I was very impressed with how smoothly it worked.

Hi Allen

following on from Tim's reply, I also had a very positive experience with BigBlueButton at iMoot15.  I would also add that I see this integration as the future, and that the videoconference in conjunction with the assets and activities that Moodle offers is a combination which allows synchronous and asynchronous teaching in a homogeneous package.

I would recommend you check out the forum on web conferencing here:

All the best

Andy

Hi Allen,

Depending on what you want to do with it, there may be a free and simple to use Moodle option. See this plugin: https://moodle.org/plugins/view/mod_webrtcexperiments

WebRTC is probably going to be the future of voice, video, and shared whiteboard web conferencing.

I hope this helps!
