Deb, I remember that I have explained this whole process to you in VERY DETAIL in one of your previous forum posts. Now I am not going  to re-write that all over again, you have to look out in your previous posts and follow the steps to convert the files.

Deb, just re-writing the post where I had written whole method to convert GoToMeeting files into MP4 (https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=307282#p1242045)

Unfortunately this is the ONLY way you can convert the GoToMeeting files into MP4 format,  there is absolutely no other method, either you can follow the steps or else you can keep looking, halting your site with 2 things in the tunnel.

- Conversion of GoToMeeting files into MP4.

- Live Streaming, without the need of Streaming server (essentially free) - However there is a method, but it will have nothing to do with your Moodle / Joomdle site, but viewers can only be able to watch it on VLC players outside the site, so you will actually be broadcasting the stream for ANYONE to get URL and watch for free taking your bandwidth to an essential halt.

If your TEAM can come up with some other idea with their research to live stream without the need of a streaming server, I'll be damned, as after scratching my head in Uni of Manchester's server racks studying streaming media over the internet I couldn't find any alternative to that without the need of a streaming server, once your team come up with a solution, do let me know, I'll update my thesis report with your credentials for sure.

If you have MP4 files, then presenting them on your Moodle DOESN'T adheres to Definition of Live stream, its called VOD (Video on Demand). For that you can simply upload the MP4 on to your Moodle and they will play.

For live steam, you have to broadcast the stream as when you are recording it, not the other way around.

Re: joomdle live video streaming

I know they are two separate things. I do not know how to upload the mp4s need the steps so am waiting for that help

uploading to moodle is what I need of mp4

live stream is something separate

Deb, video can be presented in many ways, and some of the folks here on Moodle.org are giving you (and continue to give you) good advice.  I can give you another alternative that might work for you.

Consider putting your mp4 files on a decent server.  Then, in Moodle, simply provide the URL to the video.  I am going to do this right here to show you what I mean.  I create a name, "Here is my Video" and then I just provide a link to it.  Moodle will transform this into the actual video.  See below.

I can also create a URL link resource anywhere in my moodle course to do the very same thing.

Having said this, you will hate to hear this, I don't do it this way.  I prefer bundling my videos into a RSS "podcast" feed.

I know that you want a simple answer to what seems to be a simple question (from you), but you will have to learn about the various ways of providing videos, their advantages and disadvantage, and then match them up with what you think you are seeking.

Now for my video:

I read this recently after the movie that came out on Alan Turing.

Fascinating to speculate.

As to on-topic stuff:

Ihave had some success with clean theme + videoeasy plugin _ Floiwplayer.  Really nice.  LOOKS better than the standard Moodle install.

I wish all you guys in this thread well.

Well, what Derek is suggesting is go to the Plugin Downloads area and download the plugin called "Video Easy" (link to the right place) with is an easily installable video player plugin and have your Moodle tech install it.

There should be sufficient documentation to be able to follow how to install and use it. If there isn't then tell the developers that they need to improve the documentation.

What it does is replace video links with a HTML5 standard viewer and looks better than lots of other players.

I will review this -some of the terms I am unfamiliar with. I would need to see where the plug ins are for video on moodle. I am trying to help my tech. Concrete terms help me since I am a beginner when explaining. thank you

Deb, for my video to play I think that your browser has to have Quicktime installed (I think).

The hosting requirements are influenced by the quantity of videos that you plan to use, and how many students will be viewing them.

Working fine with me, its HTML5 player so any browser capable of handling HTML5 will be able to show it without need of third party plug-in.

Consider using JWPlayer plug-in (very recently added to inventory), it comes as fall back player for Flash (where browsers do not support HTML5).

Deb, just for reference, your question is analogous to "I am in the middle of New York City.  Just tell me how to get to...?"

You are in the middle of "video world", and you simply want to get from point A to point B, but there are hundreds of ways to do this.

You can begin simple.  Just put your videos on Bluehost.  When students complain, then talk to Bluehost about how to "step up" and improve performance of videos.  My guess is that you will soon find yourself needing a VPS, which will cost you more but have better performance.  Bluehost can sell you this.  As you gain expertise, you will probably find yourself exploring video-serving companies, such as Kaltura.  You will continue to be confused, want the simplest and least costly solution, and continue to be frustrated that no one can give you the single-best solution.  You will feel like you always must compromise between various video-serving features.

Well, welcome to the world of videos.  Others here on moodle.org might be able to add to this perspective of mine.
