Hi, all.

This message is to provide notice to developers about the impending code-freeze starting on Monday 6 April.

The code freeze is a point after which no new code (only fixes to existing code) is accepted until beyond the release. This stabilisation allows for QA testing and means developers are able to respond rapidly to bugs found.

For more information see...

http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Process#Events_during_cycle

Thanks to all the contributors to Moodle 2.9. We are waiting until all new features land in product and will prepare the release notes page from this list of issues.

Code freeze officially starts today.

Improvements and new features can still be submitted for integration, however they will be held until the end of synchronisation period, which is 3 weeks after release, 1st of June 2015. After this date we will be integrating new features and improvements in 3.0.

During this week integration team will go through all the issues that are waiting for integration. However Monday being a public holiday does not help with the queue that is already bigger than usual, so we anticipate that some issues will be carried over the next week. Hopefully we can still start the QA cycle next week as planned.

If you are a plugin author, it is probably best to wait until at least next week before starting to check your plugin for 2.9 compatibility as this will be a busy week of changes in the codebase.

Just a reminder that integration of improvements during the code freeze is still possible but only when approved by the product owner. Issues that are currently waiting for or in peer review will also be considered individually.
