New plug-in for interactive lectures

Hello, I represent a group of engineering students. We have a project to improve interactivity in class. Hereafter, the description of our plug-in.

The idea of this plugin is to ease note taking for students during a school presentation (eg : lectures). It will also allow the user to follow the slides in live (if wanted), from his computer and publish questions. Other members will be able to answer it (that includes the teacher).

One can also write personnal notes and share it if wished.

Finally, an up-vote system will be created so that relevant remarks will be highlighted and climbed back to the presentator.

If you have any comment, question or suggestion, please let me know.
Thanks a lot,
Alnour

Hi Alnour,

This looks like potentially a really useful plugin particular for University students sat in large lectures - I like it.

The ideas of making contextual notes along with the presentation and live Q&A voting and asking would be popular.

So have you developed the plugin or is it at the proposal stage? I would be keen to hear more.

All the best

Mark

Thanks Alnour!

Have you submitted it to the Moodle plugins repository? Will it be possible to try it out and give you feedback soon?

Hi Mark and Matt,

Thank you both for your quick answers.

We are currently developping this plugin and we are supposed to finish it for April. I hope you will be able to try it soon !

Our purpose is to create a tool for students which could help them learning interactively with other students. It could be useful if some information were missing in the presentation document or to make a note, a precision about the course.

The notes and questions/answers are ordered by page number. Actually, when someone posts a message, he is asked a page number related to his note/question. If the page number is not given, then it is stored in a special category for non-indexed pages.

Upvotes are a second classification method. Students and professors can upvote a question simply by clicking the related button in the desired post. The most upvoted questions/answers will be on the top of the category.

The live I talked about in my previous post is a function that the professor can activate or not. Follow the live means to be redirected to the page currently consulted by the teacher. If a student does not follow this live,he will be able to progress at his own rhythm.

Technically speaking, we developped a activity plug-in called ILE (Interactive Learning Environment).

The teacher create a new "ILE-activity” and upload his course. This course is sent to "ILE-server” (we will provide the code files for this server in addition to the plug-in). When a student want to acces to the "ILE-activity”, he clicks on the activity a link to the resource is displayed. It redirects to the screen given above, which is actually a website.

If a point remains unclear, feel free to ask me, I'll try to answer you as best as I can.

Best regards,

Alnour

I would love to try it out.  Might be very nice for high school students to take notes during a lecture or from home.  Looking forward to seeing something to take a look at.
