Passwords not working anymore after upgrade

Hello,


Did an upgrade of Moodle to from 2.0.2 to 2.2 to 2.8.2 but none of the passwords are working.

Only when I reset them they work again.


Is it needed for users to reset their password after this upgrade?

I did a check in the database and compared the encrypted passwords in the old version with the new version and they both have the same value. Does the new Moodle user a different encryption algorithm for passwords?


Also cleared all caches. Logins are not working. Only after they are reset they work.

There are quite a lot of users, it would be inconvenient to ask all users to reset their passwords.

Any way around this?

Did you forget to copy the password salt setting over from your original config.php file?

No, $CFG->passwordsaltmain is set in the old and new version.

And they both have the same value.

Work through that lot. To exclude them if nothing else.
