Restoring backup of 1.9 course to latest 2.7.

Restoring backup of 1.9 course to latest 2.7.

Hi!

I have enabled plugin which named as "Assignment 2.2 (Disabled)" at page "Administration" - "Site administration" - "Plugins" - "Activity modules" - "Manage activities" (pressed an eye icon in column named "Hide/Show").

After that "Administration" - "Site administration" - "Plugins" - "Plugins overview" shows me that "Assignment 2.2 (Disabled)" is enabled in column "Availability".

Course restored normally, but I have some questions:

Is it automatically converted 1.9 assignments to latest format? ("Administration" - "Site administration" - "Plugins" - "Activity modules" - "Manage activities" says I have 19 "Assignment" and 0 "Assignment 2.2 (Disabled)").

Is it normal that block "RECENT ACTIVITY" - "COURSE UPDATES:" have records "Deleted Assignment 2.2 (Disabled)"?

When I go to "Site administration" - "Assignment upgrade helper" - click "List assignments that have not been upgraded" - it says "Nothing to display".

Thanks!

I've read https://docs.moodle.org/27/en/Assignment_upgrade_tool#Restoring_course_backups_from_Moodle_2.2_and_older and little confused - is it already was converted while course was restored?

The documentation could make it clearer (although it does explain at the top of the page you linked to), but your problem is mentioned in the 2.7 release notes:

https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Moodle_2.7_release_notes#Assignment

The old assignment was removed completely on the release of 2.7. If you want to restore your Course you will need to re-install the old Assignment module first, restore and then do the upgrade.

Thanks, Howard.

I'm now trying to merge info from two Moodle instances - one instance v1.9, and another is v2.5.

So I should reinstall old Assignments module to be able to restore all of the course information from version 1.9.

Also this should be done before restoring process.

Am I understand right?

Ok, I will try to.

Have also restored one course from v2.5, and had some lines of "Module not fully restored: id N" in output messages.

Turned on Assignment 2.2 and retried - and those messages gone. May it be because this course was restored from 1.9 to 2.5, and then i backed up it at 2.5 and restored to 2.7?

Maybe some old information that was actual for 1.9, which restored to 2.5 normally, but not needed more? And it again backed up to file and restored in 2.7?

To be clear: I have two real instances of Moodle v1.9 and v2.5, both is somewhere at university.

But I am somewhat noobish in Moodle-things.

Teacher asked if I can help to upgrade them both or merge information to one place. I've chosen second variant as less destructive.

I've launched v2.7 in VirtualBox, so I can make snapshots and play with those snapshots easily, making reversions to some saved state.

It's not hard for me to check if something goes wrong with restoration process 微笑 And try to redo-redo-redo...

But I have lack of integral vision of Moodle project, which soon will be fixed, I think.

I also looked into https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=244723 theme, it's also helpful.

After I replaced module mod_assignment, I logged in to my moodle and get page "/admin/index.php?" titled "Plugins check" (sorry if i'm wrong somewhere, it's my translation to English).

It says it need to "update" old assignments module.

Current version: "2014051200", new version: "2014050700", needed: "Moodle 2014050200", status "The newer version is already installed!"

on "Update Moodle" button click:

Sorry for another post, but let me ask it again: do you have some info about this issue?

Did someone knows what to do in this situation?
