Hello

Am not sure this has been asked before , but does anyone know if we can adapt moodle to somehow let , users ( universities) create their own courses and after we approve , they get course creator role within those courses and can operate individually on their own ?

Something like coursera let's different universities make their own courses and run them , and they have a page where we can see all courses by a particular university ?

karmali, yes this is possible, have a look at the website www.gnomio.com, they let you create your own Moodle instance where other things are under their control (Like Themes, Plug-ins etc), how did they manage it, I have no idea, but you can always ask them if they assist you in that,

Standard Moodle can do that if you use the course request feature - see Adding a new course Once course requests are approved, users have teacher rights in that course. Obviously there are other issues to consider, security, load, etc etc but the basic feature is present.

Thanks Mary ,

I believe this was how it was done in the learn.moodle.net MOOC ?. What I am looking for is something beyond this as I mentioned where each institute has their own category (or set of courses ) grouped together and you can check each institutes page for courses they offer etc etc..

I guess we will have to get some hands dirty in php

You can create categories for each institute, an there you can give a trusted person a manager or trainer role (only for this category) and this person can create course only in his category and not ins other.

you also can activate category design so that every institute has his own design in the category.
