Cannot see the student names in the grader report when scrolling

Could someone please tell me what happened to the static student name function in the grader report in Moodle 2.8+? I have many marks in the grader report so I when I scroll right the student names disappear (as they scroll left) and I don't know who's grade I am looking at. The names that used to show when the mouse hovers above the mark cell only shows grade now. The grader report is useless for entering or even looking at marks now. I have looked in the Site Admin>Grades>Report settings>Grader report and the check-box is gone...........? Any help to restore this function before report cards are due 10 days would be thankfully appreciated. Cheers, Mark.

I found a fix - see below. This shows the student email addresses in the grade book and somehow makes it scroll properly.
